Medicare Explained

Medicare is the best Health Insurance option you will probably ever have. There are several choices you have to make if you want to maximize your benefits and avoid penalties.

That’s where we come in. We look at your personal health, budget and travel plans and make a suggestion to plans that meet your personalized needs. As Medicare Specialist and Independent Brokers we provide access to all of the Top plans and match you up with your Doctors and Medications.

Medicare Part A

Medicare Part A is the portion of Medicare that you have paid for all of your working life under the Medicare Tax. Usually it is no cost to you when you start Medicare. There are occasional exceptions, but they are very rare.

Here is what Part A covers:

  • Inpatient care in a hospital.
  • Skilled nursing facility care.
  • Nursing home care (inpatient care in a skilled nursing facility that’s not custodial or long term).
  • Hospice Care
  • Home Health Care

Medicare Part B

Medicare Part B is the portion of Medicare that does come with a monthly premium for the majority of people.

Here is what Part B covers:

  • Clinical research
  • Ambulance Services
  • Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
  • Mental Health
  • Inpatient and Outpatient Procedures
  • Partial Hospitalizations
  • Limited Outpatient Medications
  • Doctors Visits
  • Labs and x-rays

Medicare Advantage (Part C)

Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C) are plans offered by private insurance companies that cover some of your Medicare cost and have co-payments on most all services. They are required to provide at a minimum the same coverage as Medicare, but often have additional benefits. Many people like them because they come with low or $0 monthly premiums, (Although you still are responsible for your Part B Premium).

  • Dental coverage
  • Vision coverage
  • Over the Counter Medications
  • Fitness Membership
  • Prescription Drug Coverage

Medicare Supplements

Often referred to as Medigap, Medicare Supplements do just that, they pay the gap between what Medicare pays and what amount is billed to you. Depending on the plan you choose it may pay all or a large portion that Medicare does not.

Medicare Supplements do come with an affordable monthly premium and they help eliminate the co-payments associated with Medicare Advantage. Medigap plans also allow you to see any provider who accepts Original Medicare Part A and Part B.

Medicare Part D

Medicare Part D is the last part of Original Medicare and is the portion that covers a portion of your medication cost. There are many plans to choose from, so they are very targeted on the medications which are particular to you.

many people find Part D is the hardest choice to make because they come as individual plans or part of a Medicare Advantage Plan. Drug prices vary between plans. But, if you can give us your list of medications we have the tools and can match you up with the most affordable plan for you.
